Singapore-based fashion illustrator Grace Ciao’s journey began unexpectedly when she incorporated wilting rose petals into her illustrations, leading her art into international acclaim - She has partnered mega luxury brands, with clients including Chanel, Dior and Bvlgari amongst others, and has been listed in Forbes 30 under 30 Asia 2021. Grace is best known for her work Bloom Belles, involving incorporating flower petals in her fashion illustrations.

Jian Yang co-owns and runs Distilleri, a 60-man integrated communications agency which services McDonald’s, GXS, Toys’R’Us, Puma and NCSS among others. But you probably know him as “The Barbie Guy”. His Barbie doll collection is the largest in Asia, and currently about 13,000 strong. The collection is widely publicised around the world, as is his book, #FlushableFashion, which features his artistic pursuit of creating doll couture out of hotel toilet paper on his frequent travels. He is a reluctant influencer, and his Instagram @jianyang1979 documents his dolls, their adventures and his art.

"We want to further expand dialogues and conversations at the intersections of craft, design and contemporary art practices."

Founded by Adeline Kueh & Hazel Lim in 2021, the Critical Craft Collective is an initiative that seeks to examine / relook at the relationship of craft in the 21st century at the intersections of fine arts / contemporary art practice and technology. The impetus for this project is precipitated by the COVID-19 pandemic and our relationship to the home (and the activities around it)  as a site of radical domesticity.

Citing historical trajectories of these communal practices, the collective will also foreground elements of storytelling that are embedded in the process of making. The collective is focused on highlighting different ideals and reimagining notions of nurturing and care away from traditional (gendered) norms. As a forward-facing entity that enables a range of partnerships, collaborations and curatorial projects to take place, the Critical Craft Collective aims to be the Craft Council of Singapore in the near future - one that will connect with other craft councils and collectives around the world.

Koh Dawn, based in Singapore, is a self-taught Paper Sculpture Artist. Her studies in both London College of Fashion & Central Saint Martins have shaped her creations - merging haute couture with her childhood love for Paper Art. 

Dawn’s intricate works explore themes of love, nature, and human connections for individuals and at private events for brands like Louis Vuitton, Patek Philippe and F1. She also runs an art studio, Ektory, which aims to spread the beauty of the traditional art of paper to a wider audience, and enjoys hosting salon parties and workshops for local creatives.
